I’ve got to get off social media…
All I've seen today are Met Gala updates. Seriously struggling with celebrity fashion choices.
The one that really weirded me out was Jordan Roth walking around with a 3D-printed figure embracing him from behind.
To me, it looked more like he’s being haunted by the ghost of a dead muppet.
I guess Jordan wasn't dressing for the critics.
Turns out the Met Gala and songwriting have the same problem – brave choices make people uncomfortable.
The push and pull is trying to write something the world will love…
But also something they’ve never heard before.
Maybe they’ll love it and you change an entire genre – think Queen, Billie Eilish, Radiohead, Beyoncé.
Or maybe they’ll cringe and back away.
Sometimes the world just needs time to catch up.
Jeff Buckley died before his album Grace got the attention it deserved.
As a general rule…
Never force a song down someone's throat then get mad when they don't get it.
Your only concern is writing and releasing with boldness.
If you’re not writing from that place yet, the Mona Lisa Lyric Method will put a fire in your creative belly.
The method refuses to let bad ideas win.
Your lyric ideas will feel more risky and raw – in the best way.
If you’re ready for a lyric-first songwriting method that makes songwriting more like creating a work of art…
Get the Mona Lisa Lyric Method today.
Until next time…
I did it my way.
